Theresa is from New Guinea. While at an Anglican High School she attended a Scripture Union Camp. A Missionary spoke on John 3:16: “God so loved … He gave … His Son”. He then quoted Dr Billy Graham: “If you were the only person on earth God loves you so much He would still send His Son Jesus to die for you.” That love ‘blew her mind’ and she made her choice to respond to that Love.
Theresa studied at the University of PNG, at Goroko to qualify as a High School teacher. She has taught in PNG and Vanuatu. After one and a half years teaching single women’s courses at the Christian Leaders Training College PNG she was challenged to join Operation Mobilization on the Logos ship and travel in cross-cultural ministry to S.E. Asian countries for 2 years, and then later 1 year in India and 6 months in Europe. After 3 years she returned to New Guinea and the APCM School and teaching again, then to the Christian Leaders Training College where she met Remy Sese who was studying for his Bachelor of Theology.
They were married in Vanuatu and based at Londau High School for 2 years. They returned to New Guinea and APCM High School – Theresa teaching and Remy as Chaplain and also ministering with the local churches for two and half years before they returned to Londua High School in Vanuatu. For 5 years Remy was the Administrator and Chaplain and Theresa teaching.
Remy took on an increasingly responsible role in the Churches of Christ Conference in Vanuatu until God’s call to come to Australia in May 1996 for a cross cultural ministry – this time with the Aboriginal and Islanders of Australia.
Theresa and Remy ministered firstly at Normanton and then for 9 years at Mareeba. At present they are working in Gibson W.A. with Aboriginal Youth at an Independent Christian School. Remy is also involved in Chaplaincy work. They have three children Nathan, Nelda & George.
Theresa’s comment: “I sense God speaking to me ‘Theresa – What do you want to see Me doing?”‘
Theresa’s driving passion is to see:
- Women grow in stability in their Christian and personal lives and a deepening relationship with the Lord
- Women reach their full potential in Him – spiritually, personally, life management, living and leadership
- Women expressing themselves verbally, and in victorious abundant living
- Women caring for each other in the church and the wider community
A proven life truth in Theresa’s life: “Yea, truly – GOD IS GOOD!”
